Virtual Convention with Keynote Debbie LeeKeenan

 About this Event

Join CCPPNS for an exclusive educational experience with Debbie LeeKeenan. This keynote will be an opportunity to view curated clips from Debbie LeeKeenan and John Nimmo’s new film, Reflecting on Anti-bias Education in Action: The Early Years, and a panel discussion with some of the teachers in the film and director/producer. Anti-bias education is an approach to early childhood education that supports each child's positive sense of self and group identity to create a community that respects and embraces differences, and to take action against unfairness and bias. This film features vignettes of anti-bias strategies in early childhood classrooms interspersed with teachers reflecting on their practice. The film shifts the focus away from the talking heads of experts and on to the voices of teachers committed to equity on a daily basis. By taking viewers into diverse early childhood classrooms, the film seeks to demonstrate the importance of teacher reflection on identity, context, and practice in anti-bias education. For more information,

Additional breakout sessions will be offered on Saturday covering topics such as responding to challenging behavior with curiosity and compassion, creating a safe space for gender exploration in ECE, and decolonizing our curriculum and school environment. Schedule to be posted shortly.

Scholarships available. Contact for more information.

In its mission to equip and resource its member schools and families, CCPPNS hosts an annual convention in early spring to disseminate the latest ideas and information on child development and early-learning. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic, the convention will be virtual this year. We look forward to providing our community and the extended early childhood education community with the same sense of learning, growing, sharing, and networking.

While this event is hosted by an organization that is focused on parent participation in preschools, the presentations and workshops will resonate with all educators, administrators and parents involved with preschoolers up through elementary school age children, and in any setting.
